I’m at the airport in Milan now just finished the July portion of the European summer tour. In the car driving back I got to thinking of some of the longest routes I’ve taken to get from one city to the next and the one I’m doing right now is worthy of a ROUTES blog… a new blog I’m going to add to all my useless information I pile up on this here website.
The last gig of this run was in Lignano Beach, Italy. That is a far drive from any airport especially yesterday as it was officially the first day off for all the factories in Italy. THere was traffic jams that lasted 4 to 5 hours that we luckily bypassed (literally). We had to turn around in our car a few times and find different routes to get from the plane to Lignano Beach and it still took us near 2 and half hours when it should have only taken 30 minutes. Ok so here is the first entry of my Routes blog
Lignano Beach, Italy to Kelowna, British Columbia Canada
Got done with my gig at a relatively decent time around 12:30AM since it was outside on the beach. Mucked around at the beach with Joachim Garraud trading files and videos of our gig together then bounced off to Milan airport for the first leg of the journey…. 3 1/2 hour drive. (I’m at Milan airport now)
Milan flight to London Heathrow (LHR)… 1 hour.
4 hour layover in London Heathrow
10 hour transatlantic flight from London to Vancouver (YVR)
(sleeptime i hope)
4 hour layover in Vancouver Int’ Airport
1 hour flight to Kelowna Int’l Airport (YLW)
straight to the Center of Gravity Fest i go since i go on an hour after i land … 20 minute drive (google maps)
That is one hefty route.
Besides my new blog a quick recap of this tour….
I was able to dj 3 countries in a 24 time period. Starting in Ibiza Spain – 5AM-closing at Space on Friday morning with a 9am flight to Gatwick London catching a traffic ridden drive to another airport in S. London where we got lucky and a friend picked us up in his private jet to make these next two gigs – Birmingham UK for Global Gathering for my 7pm set then straight back to the airport to fly into Italy for the BEST CLUB IN ITALY – COCO RICO in Riccione for my 2AM set time. Unbelievable how that can be possible. I’ve done 3 countries in a 24 hr period before but they were much closer and easier connections. This happened due to our homie.. Thank You!
On this tour I played in St. Tropez, Avignon, and Corsica France + Riccione & Lignano Beach Italy for the FIRST TIME.
We had a packed out Dim Mak stage at BEATPATROL FEST near Vienna, Austria w/ The BLoody Beetroots, Crookers, Joachim Garraud, Dirty Disco Youth, and my self.
I lost 500 euros in Cannes playing poker at the Palm Beach Casino a day after my gig there.. I knew I d jinx myself.
I swam 1k in Corsica.
Longest stage dive I’ve done so far… Lignano Beach. Had to be around 9 feet from stage to barrier. This should have gone wrong but I got lucky by the skin of my teeth. Going to retire soon.
