Madrid Statement

After my performance last night at Thriller Music Park at the Madrid Arena in Spain, I was devastated to hear that three people had died during a crowd rush at one of the exits. The safety of my fans has always been my top priority and had I known that there was any distress putting people in jeopardy within the venue I would have ended my show immediately. My show in Bilbao Spain tonight will be cancelled out of respect for those who lost their lives and those who are injured. I would like to express my deepest condolences and heart felt prayers to the families and loved ones during this difficult time.

Thank you Steve. I was inside the avalanche and it was the awful. I’ve been seeking to see you in live for years and couldn’t see a bit of you performance last night because after being stuck for 40 minutes I was shocked and couldn’t realize what just happened. You’re a great man, thanks again and I hope to see you again!

I agree with you, it’s better not to play tonight in Bilbao because of respect to the families of people who have died.

But I ask to you, please, your help or your managerments help to clear up how many people was there ‘cos some untrustworthy people have sold more tickets up to the maximum number given, and that people have to pay for what happend.

Thanks Steve, hope you continue rocking every night

You’re a great man Steve, not your fault. Blame it on the organizers.

I’m a spanish girl that went to Highclub in Nice this July to see you and it was acutely the best night of my life. I was at the front and I really liked you, you looked like a very nice person and once again you show it with the words I just read. I was in your perfomance yesterday night in Madrid and it was horrible what happened, all what you will say about what happened in these days will be quite important. also for the family of the victims, RIP….

  • Albert says:

Steve, when the night ended i also was stunned to hear about these events, the first thing i thought about was your reaction to this, being the star last night i imagie you could feel responsible for what happened but believe me, it was not your fault, its the event organzers fault. They sold way more tickets than the permitted and they knew it, I hope madrid arena gets sewed big time. Thank you very much for your words, they really do make a difference.

  • Ricky Barham says:

Steve Aoki – respect, love and peace.

  • Andres says:

I’m from Madrid and I was yesterday in Madrid Arena. Those situations are normal in Spain, I’ve been in a lot of festivals in Spain and international festivals out of Spain. In Spain 90% promoters of festivals only want to take more money, for them the security and the seriously work don’t exist. Yesterday at the entrance, the workers did not ask to show our ID to check the age, no bags searched, but worst of all is that tickets have not been scaned, only the input stored in a pile, ie everyone could have come with fake tickets. I have gone to a lot of festivals and this is Spain usually, only when there are dead people the world know that facts have happened.

  • alvox says:

    incredible steve respect

  • joaquin says:

Next time, please ask how many tickets have been sold and what is the capacity of the place. If the capacity is exceeded BEFORE cancel your performance.

  • MartinezBoss says:

Toda la culpa fue de la empresa organizadora.Fatal organización para recibir a un DJ tan prestigioso.

Its very sad that this happened, i was there with my boyfriend and a few more friends. We wanted to get out to breathe a little bit and i got pushed on to the floor and another four people fell on top of me. I was lucky that a man grabbed my arm tight and pulled my out of there. It was impossible to move from one side to the other and the security men were pushing you away back into the crowd continuously at the exit point where the disaster happened. Thousands of people may have noticed and the other maybe not, but the responsibility of what happened that night is of those who sold more tickets than allowed, the men who shot the Bengal and the organization that didn’t make shore that the security was enough letting people get in to the festival with bottles of alcohol and other things that can be very dangerous in these conditions, such has the Bengal.
    All my condolences.

  • luis says:

Thanks a lot for the respectful statement and please please help us to prove that the capacity of the venue was substantially exceeded. That’s the only way to penalize those people that are guilty of this tragedy and to actually stop these kind of things from happening.

  • Cloud Falls says:

your show in Nicaragua was amazing and I’m not sure how we escape a tragedy like this, there were many people and I remember you said “Please do not hurt, be calm” I think humans are not prepared for to much energy… seriously, you lead people to unexpected places like nobody… but this is not your fault, you can’t control everything. behind this tragedy, those responsible are not artists, they are the organizers of the event.

  • marcos cardoso says:

    gracias steve

  • bayolo says:

A fourth girl has died because of this terrible accident. She was 17.

Steve please, help us to solve this tragic that had happened… U know that they were much more than the people they were supposed to let in… We need justice, this doesnt have to happen ever again, and for not happening we need them(I’m talking about the government and the organization) to realize the shit they’ve made… Imagine what could’ve happened if it appeared fire… We would be talking bout THOUSANDS of death people… I really think that u are a gorgeous Dj and a better person… That’s why I’m asking u for help… We need ur testimony, seriously… HELP US! The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole
my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just
so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed
and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but
I had to share it with someone!
